Last week and part of this week is "overtime week". All week we need to go overtime... some issues just jumps on you and you have no choice but to deal with them beyond the usual work hours or else you will miss the deadline. I had a chance to speak with a colleague about what is happening and he answered something like, "we don't have that. we can't have overtime". "I bring my work home", he added with pride in his voice. This is something I do not buy into. I think work should be done in the office once you leave the office you should leave work there. Unless of course if you work at home.:) This is one of the boundaries I set on myself. It's what I think is right, why go home and be with your family if your head is still in your work? I believe that when you are at work then be at work. When you are at home then be at home. Also, I believe that in doing that you will be doing your family a great favor. Give to Caesar what is due to Caesar, give to your family (and to yourself) what is due to your family. When I get married and have a family of my own I want to be able to remember this - in the end, no one in his deathbed will ever say to himself (and to others), " I wish I had spent more time in the office."
